Harmony Village will be the first-of-its-kind senior living community in Tulare, CA. The community will be built in phases and the initial phase will be an Assisted Living and Memory Care facility, to be called “The Gardens at Harmony Village”. The Gardens will feature spacious Studio, One Bedroom, and Two Bedroom apartments and the first phase of construction is expected to be completed in early 2013 and will include 99 Assisted Living apartments and 24 Memory Care apartments; and will offer an array of supportive services and additional personal care for those who may need it.

Harmony Village is being created by Harmony Senior Living, and the initial phase of The Gardens will be a $22 million development project that is expected to create approximately 50 full-time-equivalent jobs in Tulare; in addition to the direct and indirect jobs created by the actual construction itself. Construction is expected to commence in spring 2012 and the Gardens are scheduled to open by spring 2013.

The Gardens’ residents will enjoy a caring combination of apartment living; hotel style housekeeping; nutritious chef-prepared meals served in a stylish dining room; personalized support services; and health care designed to respond to their individual needs. Examples of our services and activities include:

            • Three meals per day, served in the community dining room

            • Weekly hotel style housekeeping, linen, and laundry service

            • Social, cultural, and recreational activities

            • Health, wellness and educational activities

            • 24/7 emergency call system and security

            • Transportation within the local area

The Memory Care (Dementia/Alzheimer’s) section will serve individuals whose loss of intellectual acumen has resulted in significant interference with daily functioning. As such, the environment of this unit is designed to allow for maximum freedom while insuring the safety of the residents. The building is constructed in a pattern to allow for ‘walking paths’ in which residents may walk but will always regain their starting point. The enclosed outdoor garden area is similarly configured. Lighting, railing and other environmental cues are included to provide residents the greatest independence and dignity while supporting the limitations imposed by memory loss.

The two story building constructed for the initial phase will be approximately 85,000 square feet and is designed to accommodate a future expansion wing for independent living residents with supportive services. This added wing will be built as a second phase of development and will ultimately provide a home for seniors who desire a lifestyle that offers apartment style residences with services that include exercise and wellness programs, social, cultural, and religious activities, and amenities including generous common areas, a full service beauty and barber salon, physical and occupational therapy, weekly housekeeping and linen service, transportation services and 3 meals per day in an elegant dining room. The independent living community will be called “The Heritage at Harmony Village”, and is currently planned, to be a 3 story building of 115 spacious apartments (5 studios, 70 one bedrooms, and 40 two bedrooms).
